When coworkers get nosey...
How would you comment if a coworker or boss asked you if this pregnancy was planned?
What is the best, tactful way of answering this question if you don't want to come out with a direct yes or no answer?

I think people have no filter and totally forget what it was like for them to be asked such personal things. I really hope that is the case because I have been asked that as well.

I never understood people asking this. It's none of their business! Sheesh. A friend of mine asked this, so I told her yes since we're close and I don't mind. But I wouldn't know how to respond to a coworker

I got the same questions. I was also asked "What was ***'s reaction?" or "Is *** excited?"
Like ***** ? do they expect me to say "No"?
I started answering sarcastically, like I should hope so... he helped make it!

I would just answer the question but then again I am open about most things. Most of my co-workers knew about my infertility treatments.

one of DH's coworkers asked him that question when he announced we were PG and he responded in a joking way "that's a bit personal but yes, we planned it", he said it was enough to let her and let others around know not to ask the question again. I don't know if I would have said what he did but nobody asked me that question because anyone close enough to me knew about my IF journey.

I think it's something people blurt out but don't really realize what they're asking.
"Are you asking me if I was having sex recreation-ally or with a purpose?"
if it was a boss, I'd tread lightly & ignore the question by asking him/her something about work.

be vague and tactful, something like "oh you know, we believe things happen for a reason!" or smile and avoid the question- "we are very happy with how things worked out."

i once read the best comeback for unsolicited questions is to sorta turn it around on the person and ask them "why are you asking?" i think it sorta stumps most nosey people and sorta shuts them up....
