Alterations - Huntington
Does anyone have a good seamstress in Huntington Village?
I've passed Thomas Mitchell a few times and it looks a little pricey... well, it actually looks alot pricey.
I also just did a google search and found Mario Aloe, but I'm not sure if he does women's clothing as well?
The dress doesn't need a whole lot of work but I don't know anyone in the area.

Mario does womens alterations. I believe his wife is a seamstress.
I've also used Thomas Mitchell and I didn't think they're were that outrageous from a price standpoint.

Re: Alterations - Huntington
I went to HS with Tom of Thomas Mitchell. His custom clothing is pricey but I have heard he is great. Some guys from HS go to him. I never asked him if his shop does tailoring for women b/c I know he focuses on custom clothing for men. I would certainly trust him or his staff, though & I do not trust many tailors
I heard about Marios and I wanted to try there. I specifically want a European trained tailor even it that sounds totally prejudiced. I've been to enough tailors with 20 years worth of my suits & this is how I feel. I had one that I used exclusively for a long time but he retired.
For a while I was bringing things to the taloirs at Lord & taylor in Walt Whitman Mall. They charge extra if the item is not from their store but they will do it & they did a nice job.
I went to the custom suit place in Smithtown and they charged me about $120 to shorten sleeves and shorten a skirt on a suit. Too much money and they needed about 3 weeks to get to it.
I just brought some things to a local dry cleaner because I did not have time to go into Huntington. My fingers are crossed that they are not ruining my clothes. The last place I went to really ruined something completely.
It is impossible to find a tailor that is good, convenient to get to and is not very pricey. Like I said, Marios is next on my list to try.
