Saw an RE for PG#1... Now TTC#2

It took DH & I 1 1/2 years to get PG with DD. We saw an RE and, after 2 failed IUI's, we got PG on the 3rd IUI. There was never an explanation for our infertility issues.

We are now TTC #2. We have been trying for 3 months. The past 2 months, we used the ovulation predictor sticks. We are now heading into our 4th month of TTC.....

So, my question is.... For those of you who saw an RE with your first pregnancy, did you also go to an RE with your second pregnancy? Also, did you go straight to your RE or did you wait a few months? How many months did you wait?

Our situation is a little different because we weren't even candidates for IUI (dealing with male factor IF). We were kind of trying, but not using ovulation predictors or anything, for about 4 or 5 months. I wasn't in any hurry to get pregnant, so we figured we'd try it out on our own. I knew it wouldn't work, so when we were really ready to have another baby we went straight to the RE.

so my story I had tried for a year had surgery for endometriosis then tried another 6m then 4 iui's then went to ivf conceived first round didn't use any birth control for 17m afterwards but did nurse for 15 m then used 2 frozen embryos, bfn then a fresh, BFN then the next month a natural BFP however miscarried due to genetics. Have tried for 5 months , cause emotionally not ready to go back to RE.

For DC #2 (I am preggers now 16 weeks) We were going straight to the RE at the end of July. But prior to that month we fig eh lets just have fun and when I was going to call the RE I tested just before and I was preggers.

For me Ihave PCOS and I just had good timing and I actually O'ed which I HARDLY ever do on my own.

Regardless I had plans on going to the RE since I knew I problems getting preggers for DS#1. If I was going for #3 I would set a date in mind where I would call a RE and just try the month before and if nothing happened I would go to the RE.

If I was in your case I would go to the RE.

We did IVF for the boys. Had a surprise pregnancy in April that ended in miscarriage. Got pregnant first month after the miscarriage on our own. Am now 13 weeks pregnant. If I didn't get pregnant on month 1, I was going back to the RE for a FET.

If you've been trying for a few months, I would just go back to the RE (unless there are financial issues/ paying totally OOP). I figure, why wait!!!!

In your case, I would probably see an RE again.

For me, we resolved what my issue was-- low progesterone. So, after trying on my own for a few months this time, I got a prescription for progesterone from my regular OB and the first month I took it 2 DPO, I got pregnant.

I think if you don't know what's going on, or causing your problems-- it's better to work with an expert. But, that's just what I would do. Good luck!

We are dealing with unexplained infertility. DC #1 was conceived on our first IUI. We tried for on our own for 9 months for #2. We decided to go back to the RE and conceived again on our first IUI. I am currently 8w6d. Good luck!

My first I didn't need an RE but 2nd I did(I have endo and after 10 months we ended up getting pregnant on our own right before a scheduled clomid/iui cycle ) then this pregnancy was a complete surprise!! I conceived when DS was only 5 months old.. I would wait a few more months maybe until you have been trying 6 and then go back. I know quite a few people that don't have fertility issues at all and it took them at least 4-6 months to conceive... Good Luck!!!

I had dd with the help of an re, she was conceived after our third iui. When dd was 9 months old I got pg on my own but than had a mc at 5 weeks. I went back to the re right after that. I had an iui in Sept and I'm 6 weeks pg.

We saw an RE for our first DC. We got pregnant on our own this time, but most likely would've tried 6 months before going back.
