Re: Did you panic about how much higher your new bills would be?

YES! We are refinancing and taking out some $$, and I'm freaking over our new monthly payment.
Our taxes are the same as yours, too. It's just crazy. Somehow, it all works out thoughChat Icon

Congrats on the house. Where is it located?

I think just about everyone can symapthize on this...so please know that you are not alone Chat Icon

DH and I decided to use some of the money from the sale of our co-op to pay off the car loans and student loans. In doing that it should free up some more money each month to put towards the mortgage and taxes.

You will definitely sell your place...sending good selling vibes your way.

UMMM....YES! OMG! DH and I panicked and I work in the real estate industry (title insurance). I knew all the numbers while we were looking and analytically I was OK. Then the day before closing, I freaked! The emotional side took over and I was a mess the night before the closing. Thank goodness was much better at the closing. Everyone who purchases goes through this in one form or another. I never thought it would happen to ME, boy was I wrong! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would worry that your r/e agent is advising that if you cant pay the bills, you can put it back on the market and not take a loss. No one knows what the real estate market will look like in a year.

Re: Did you panic about how much higher your new bills would be?

I have weekly panic attacks about bills to the point where FH had to sit me down this weekend and go thru all of our finances. Mind you, i am an accountant and go thru these numbers about three times a week on my own. I dont know why but sometimes it just seems so overwhelming.

Me 2. We close in a week and my DH and I run the numbers every day with "what ifs" and everything else. We will have about 10,000 in our savings to dip into god forbid we should need it. But we are very nervous.

We are also thinking of putting in an apt to bring in some income for more of a cushion at least for the first year.

Re: Did you panic about how much higher your new bills would be?

I am in denial but my DH is definately freaking out- he keeps worrying that he is going to lose his job since he just started there. Its pretty scary when your taxes are almost $800 a month- ours are too. I won't go into our payment to mortgage- LA housing is sooo expensive!

Same situation! LOL!! My brother is renting our basement apt from us to ease the pain a little bit. We close on Thursday!

Re: Did you panic about how much higher your new bills would be?

Sue - DH had many sleepless nights thinking about this! He lived in his condo for 15 years and for 13 out of those 15 years he's had no mortgage. So the thought of having this huge mortgage, taxes (not so nice in Essex Cty) as well as the normal day to day bills, had his blood pressure rocket high.

He's calmed down alot now that we've been in the house for 10 months!

Yes, every time I work out the numbers, there's proof that we can do it, but then I go into panic mode and feel like I'm going to be sick from worrying about the looming debt. Where' s the vomit icon?!

This was totally me. Before we closed, I would keep working out the numbers to make me feel better. Then, I would panic again. We just paid our first mortgage payment. It was kind of sickening, but as everyone said, it is normal to feel that way.

I am afraid of the bills to come, but my DH just keeps reminding me that we can do it. Good luck!
