Heartbeat

Should you be able to see a hearbeat at 6.4 days? My friend just went for an u/s and they said everything looked fine but there was no heartbeat. Her next appt is for 12 weeks....weird or not? She was also slightly spotting earlier in the week.
I came from the RE and they didn't release me until they saw a HB so I have no idea how this works. Thanks!

I had my 1st US at 6w5d and they saw a heartbeat. Is it possible they are mis-calculating her weeks? I wouldn't be comfy waiting until 12 weeks for another US. I would be requesting an appt sooner if I was her.

When I had a sono around that time, they told me before hand that the hb may not be visible for another week. We did end up seeing it though. Is it possible that her dates are off, did they tell her how big the baby measured? I would try not to worry but if I were her I'd ask for another scan sooner just for peace of mind.

I don't think it's possible her dates are off. She used CBEFM to get detect O...the sac and everything is measuring 6.4 days but no heartbeat. I don't want to worry her but I wouldn't wait almost 6 weeks for another sono...I thought most heartbeats can be detected by 6 weeks especially if that is what you are measuring and you are 100% sure when you ovulated.

Did they do an external and an internal sono? When I had mine at first we did external and could see the sac but couldn't see the hb. So the tech did an internal and we could see it.

I wouldnt wait that long till my next appt. Im surprised they didnt have her come back at 8 weeks. At 6 weeks I was able to see a heartbeat but not every does.

In my first pregnancy we saw a clear heartbeat at 6wk1d ....... and with my triplet pregnancy all the babies had a heartbeat at exactly 6wks.

She def should not wait until 12wks to go back!!! I think she should go back in one week even.. but that's just me..........

I have heard sometimes you can't. I had an early sono with the pregnancy around 5 weeks 4 days and I saw a heartbeat.

With DD I had an app't at 5wks we saw the sac..my dr took me a week later at 6wks and I heard the heartbeat. Saw me again at 8wks and 12.

I had an u/s at 6 weeks 3 days and saw the heartbeat. But, before the u/s they made a point of telling me not to worry if there wasn't one because it was still very early.

If all her hormone levels are normal and no supplements are needed (like progesterone or estrogen) and the baby is measuring at the right size, I'm not that surprised they're not bringing her back. For my OB, they only bring you back more if there is a problem or increased risk due to past miscarriages or losses. If the baby is on track thus far and hormones are where they should be, then there is nothing they can do to prevent a m/c. So, as hard as it is to wait until 12, I think my OB would do the same thing.
