Question about Blue Cheese
Is blue cheese okay to eat if it's cooked? I'm not sure if they sell pasturized, but if they do that's what I would get. I'm thinking of making buffalo chicken mac and cheese but I'm not sure if this is safe. Thoughts?

MOST cheeses sold in the US are pasteurized. I'm sure it will be fine unless you get it from a gourmet market or nature place.

i've eaten blue cheese this entire pregnancy... i think its fine if it's cooked for sure.

I wouldn't consider it except that this is cooked. Does baking for 30-40 minutes make it any safer?
Here's the recipe. I've had leftover shredded buffalo chx in my freezer since before my BFP and it keeps calling my name!Buffalo-Chikcen Mac and Cheese

Yes...if you get a brand pre packaged from the deli it will be pasturized

Thanks everyone. I've been super cautious bc when I met with the NP at my first appointment she wouldn't even ok pasturized cheeses! I'll probably see what the dr says at my appt this week.

I have had blue cheese with both pregnancys. I'm not that strict with things. I would think it would be just fine cooked.

wait so you aren't allowed to eat ANY cheese??
Sorry, she just said no to all soft cheeses like feta, blue, and brie even if pasturized. I was really surprised and asked a few times. She just kept saying she wouldn't risk it and she'd hate for me to be her second case of listeria.
I have an appt. with the doctor on Wednesday so I'll see what he thinks.

My dr said not at all... pasteurized or not its still mold based, and at risk for bacteria
