Annoyed...ladies who have used REs please advise.-UPDATED

Went to RE this morning for my pregnancy test.when i get there the nurse says they won't give me a pregancy test yet since i just got my bfp on Saturday..she said i have to wait TWO weeks for that..instead she says they test my progesterone(sp?) levels..and if the number is greater than ten that is good. ***?????

I wanted to say.. i know for a fact that tons of girls on LIF get betas done before 2 weeks, but then i am thinking why would the nurse be lying to me..maybe this is really the way they do it??????

Insight?

So now i'm waiting by the phone to find out what my progesterone levels are...
HELP!

UPDATE: They just called with my progesterone levels..they were 29.
Long story short..she apparantly asked me when i got a postitive OPK...but i thought she asked when i got a positive pregnancy test, so that's why she told me they couldn't run the beta. Anyway, they are gonna run it now and call me back in one hour with results...

I don't know why they wouldn't test the beta #? I had my beta and progesterone tested every other day for a week to be sure my numbers were rising and progesterone was where it needed to be. Could it be because you concieved naturally and not through a procedure that they would have a different protocol???

They should be testing your beta. I don't know why they wouldn't?

I went 3 days before the 2 week wait and they did a urine test plus beta and all were BFP.

Then i followed up every 48hrs for a week testing.

Dr. Sung, but i didn't see her..just dealt with a nurse.

So weird...should i call and see if they can just run the test on the blood!!!

And my regular obgyn was actually willing to give me a blood test! But i figured i would stick with the RE to get things moving along faster.

I would call and strongly request they run the beta. They already have the sample and I think the should. JMO.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. If they are running your P4, there is no reason on earth they can't run your beta. I would just insist on it. I mean, they are correct, P4 is going to be your best indicator at this point, but just for your sanity I'd request it.
