Irrational Fears

Ok ladies, I am the only one who has been having anxiety about labor and delivery?

I keep thinking that if I dont know that I am having contractions at home, what if I miss my water breaking, if it even breaks?!

Am I the only one that knows labor will kill, can I get through it?

I am normally very tough but as my due date gets closer I keep thinking all these what ifs?!

you are not alone. i think about the same things. i was just at my childbirth class last night and i keep going over and over what she said about timing contractions and when we should call the doc, etc, etc. i keep thinking i'm going to forget what she said and do the wrong thing. i'm sure in the end we'll all be fine! we're not the first and we won't be the last

I am only 3 months, but I already have anxiety about labor and delivery!

i kind of ignored it for the first 7 months of my pregnancy... now at 35 weeks i am very anxious and scared... trying to work through it though so I don't have fear when i'm actually in labor.

i'm most concerned about missing signs of labor... like water breaking, mucous plug/bloody show - i get up to pee several times during the night and never turn the light on. i get nervous that i'll flush away the signs and be none the wiser... and then the baby will fall out during my next bathroom trip

Bearcat-that is exactly how I think, that I will totally miss the fact that I am in labor!!

The closer it gets the more anxiety I get over it. I've been having contractions for the past 2 weeks and I'm afraid I will totally miss what the real thing feels like and I won't have enough time to get to the hospital, because I live an hour away. Also, anytime I feel wet, I think my water is breaking. It's driving me insane lately.

I freak out about that stuff too. My due date is far ahead, so I try to put it at the back of my mind. I am sure as it gets closer I will freak out more

hahah I was the same. Didnt really think about it too much at first, but then when it really got close, started getting super anxious. I'm still nervous (it's the antipication and not knowing what it's going to be like) which is completely normal. I am trying to calm by fears by relaxing, thinking positive thoughts, and reading as much as I can about the signs.


Keep the light on Bear!! :) hahaha I'm always looking in the toilet now to see.

I dont think we will miss the signs. Everyone seems to say, you will know. The water breaking is usually a gush, and if it's a slow leak, I think you'd notice something too. So try to trust your body.

Everything will work out. Women have been doing this forever. Anxiety and fear is normal for something as big as thing and the fact that we have no clue, but I know we will all be ok!!

As weird as this seems, I am actually dreading it much more this time than last pregnancy. It's weird I know!

My honest labor and delivery experience was that it SUUUCCKED. That said, you get through it- it's very temporary and yeah here I am again so...

For those who are afraid they wont feel contractions IMO it's next to impossible. You FEEL contractions- you will KNOW they are contractions- they don't feel like anything else you've felt before (at the VERY beginning for me it felt like bad period cramps but that morphs into something worse with plenty of time to "know").

I'm not trying to create fear, lol, but it is giving birth- it's not easy for most people but you're not gonna die, you're not gonna collapse, you're not gonna give up- and then you're beautiful baby will be here.

Aw, try to worry too much girls. You will definitely know when you are in labor. My water didn't break, I didn't lose my mucous plug, but I knew with complete certainty when I started having contractions.

And, yes, it's painful and not really that much fun, but as soon as you hold your little one all will be forgotten and this is coming from someone who did not have a great labor and delivery experience at all. Just remember the pain is temporary and it will end!

you are so not alone, I have terrible anxiety over it and my fear is I am not strong enough to handle it. My other fear is getting to hospital and they tell me it is too late for pain relief and I have to deliver without pain meds - this happened to my sister.

My fear is my water breaking at work. That I'll be standing somewhere or sitting in a meeting and GUSH! Yea, these are the things that keep me up at night. The 'then what do I do' moments. Do I go home and wait for DH to meet me? Do I go right to the hospital and have him meet me there? If I do go home, would I drive myself??? I'm hoping I won't have this issue as my last day of work is 9 days before my due date...but you never know!
