Bleeding at 5 1/2weeks...
Ugh, anyone have any positive outcomes after bleeding early in the pregnancy? I'm 5 weeks 4 days and have been spotting on and onff but now I'm bleeding enough to require a pad. I spoke to my dr and she said not to panic that it was common to bleed early in the pregnancy, 25% of women experience it but 50% of those women end up with pregnancies that aren't viable. She said to take it easy if movement and activity make the bleeding worse and to call back if I need a new pad every hour.

I bled at 5 weeks 3 days. It was bright red. Now I'm 31 weeks 2 days! Everything was fine! It's hard not to panic and think the worst. Put your feet up and try to relax.

Re: Bleeding at 5 1/2weeks...
I had brown spotting at 5 weeks, 8 weeks, and 11 weeks.
I actually had bright red blood at 14w, in the second trimester. Scariest day of my life. It worked out okay. My doctor said it was "weird" and "unexplainable" and it just never happened again.
I know it's scary, but there's nothing you can do but wait it out. Hoping for the best for you...

I had bright red bleeding for a long time due to a subchorionic hematoma. Everything turned out fine - it absorbed itself. Just scary! Good luck

That happened to me. I wound up have low progestrone and was put on progestrone suppositories. After I started taking them, I started bleeding pretty bad. Red blood, a light period. I was having irritation from the suppositories. I would call the doctor and get your progestrone level done. I'm just about 12 weeks and so far the baby is growing and everything looks fine.

Re: Bleeding at 5 1/2weeks...
I had spotting the varied from brown to pink to bright read from 5-9.5 weeks. I went for an exam and the doc said that sometimes the cervix is a little extra sensitive and can cause spotting due o excess blood flow. I would try to stay clam (although I know it is WAY easier said than done) and just call your doc if it get worse. Hope everything turns out ok!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! It's so strange because my pregnancy with my DD was nothing like this. It's as if I have AF, but I'm pregnant.

Yes, very positive outcomes --- two healthy baby boys.
For both pregnancies I bled heavily (like a heavy day of AF plus clotting) for at least 2-3 days and I freaked out both times. Turns out I'm one of those women who bleeds and then has healthy children -- so keep your chin up and stay positive -- It's so stressful, but listen to your provider's advice and REST REST REST.
I also spotted quite a bit with my current pregnancy around weeks 6-7 but nothing like I did with #1 and #2.

I spotted and lucked out that I was going to the office anyway for an appt.
They did an exam and found out I have low progesterone so I'm taking a supplement.

Re: Bleeding at 5 1/2weeks...
I bled with both of my pregnancies. !st one I bled from 6 weeks until about 11 weeks, but it was mostly on and off spotting.
With this pregnancy, I bled at 9 weeks where I needed to wear I pad. I had to go to the ER bc my Dr wasn't in. They found out I had placenta previa and I was put on bed rest until the bleeding stopped, which was a couple of days. I am now 27 weeks!!

Re: Bleeding at 5 1/2weeks...
I spotted/lightly bled at 9 weeks with my . She was perfectly healthy!!
I've also had two miscarriages. With both of them, I started spotting at 8 weeks, the following day starting cramping (very painfully) and then miscarried on day 3. The bleeding got progessively worse over those days as did the pain.
