BTDT- How did you know labor started?

Did your water break?

Did you feel different days before? more back pain? sick?

I feel like every day from now on I'm just going to be thinking, "Is it going to happen today?!"

Re: BTDT- How did you know labor started?

My water broke with my first. Then it was off to the hospital we went! No signs or symptoms before that.

With my second, I felt period cramps for a few days. I don't recall any other tell tale signs. Labor came on pretty quick with #2, there was no mistaking it!

Re: BTDT- How did you know labor started?

I didn't. Chat Icon I woke b/c of cramping, but wasn't sure anything was really starting. I called my mom to ask what contractions felt like!

DD was born 24 hours later.

Re: BTDT- How did you know labor started?

My water broke, and then I started cramping.

But looking back, I think I was leaking a little the day before. I just didn't think anything of it since it was still a month before my due date.

Re: BTDT- How did you know labor started?

I had my bloody show first.

No signs of labor prior to that. Nothing.

The hospital had to break my water at 8cm's. Mine never broke on its own.

Re: BTDT- How did you know labor started?

My water never broke.
Two days in a row I woke up at the same time 4am feeling funny, some cramping but nothing major
on the 3rd day waking up at 4am it was different...
My dr told me the contractions should stop my in my tract...I got up to pee and on my way back I had to stop walking and let it pass..dd was born 12hrs later

My water broke at exactly 39w, in the middle of the night when I got back from going to the bathroom. I got my first contraction in the car on the way to the hospital.

But before my water broke, I had no symptoms at all!

Re: BTDT- How did you know labor started?

My water broke at 2:45 am. Earlier that day, DH & I went shopping at the mall for some stuff for the baby and I remember saying I was queasy. I hadn't been queasy at all pretty much the whole pregnancy. So, that's the only thing that sticks out in my mind. Other than that, no cramping or any signs like that.

ETA: Oh, since my water broke while I was in bed, we had to get a new mattress immediately when I came home from the hospital. Chat Icon This time around, I'll be putting plastic over the mattress from the 9th month until baby's here! Chat Icon

Re: BTDT- How did you know labor started?

I had no clue!!
I never knew there was something called back labor, where you don't get the "period cramp" contractions, you just feel pain in your lower back.
WELL
I had bad back pain pretty much my entire 3rd tri so I thought nothing of it!!!
So when I went for my first internal, the doctor was like "You're 4cm, you need to go to the hospital NOW" So we went to the hospital, they hooked me up to the monitor and I was having crazy, irratic silent contractions.
Wierd right? They ened up inducing me and breaking my water.

Re: BTDT- How did you know labor started?

I knew without a doubt because I was awakened at 5am with contractions! I had no signs that it was coming in the days leading up to it. I woke up from a contraction and then immediately started timing them. They were coming regularly every 6-10 minutes and remained that way all day. I had an already scheduled OB appt that afternoon, so I didn't bother calling. I just kept timing them throughout the day and let them know what was going on when I got there.

My water never broke either. I had bloody show/lost mucus plug and cramping....progressed to painful contractions.

I have been feeling crappy and keep wondering if its starting.

I started feeling like everything was more of an effort in the days leading up. I was exhausted. But I wasn't sure if it was just 3rd trimester or the heat or what. Then my water broke and that's when I knew for sure.

My water broke all over the kitchen floor while I was playing with my dog. Since I was 2 months early, and I was new to all this, I wasn't exactly sure if I had peed myself or if it was my water. I struggled to clean it up, call my doctor and prevent my dog from licking it up Chat Icon Chat Icon

Water broke in the middle of the night.

Also, I was feeling increasingly bad back pain in the days leading up to it.

Re: BTDT- How did you know labor started?

I honestly didn't know until I was on the exam table (I was in the office for my 40w appt bc up until that day I was neither effaced nor dilated). At that time my water broke and I was 3cm. Chat Icon

Earlier in the day I felt 'off' - I was feeling heavy pressure in my lower belly. if I think about it, I probably went to the bathroom a lot the days prior and I was feeling a little sluggish.
