When did you tell your parents?

How far along were you when you told your parents?

We are trying to figure out how to do it in person. Will wait to tell others.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

I told my mom and sister about 4 days after I took a HPT and had it confirmed by blood tests at the doctor. We told DH's parents another 2-3 days after that when we saw them in person. We told them both by giving them a grandchild picture frame and letting them figure it out!Chat Icon

I told some close friends around 7-8 weeks and the rest of the family by 12 weeks.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

We still haven't told our parents. We're telling them all together along with our siblings on Labor Day weekend while we host a BBQ at our house. I wanted to tell them all at once and get to see everyone's reactions. I will be 9 weeks when we spill the beans.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

We were super cautious and waited til after our NT scan, so I guess I was just over 12 weeks.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

I really wanted to wait until I was 12 weeks but I got my BFP two days before Christmas so I decided while the family was all together for the holidays I would announce it at Christmas....so 2 days after my BFP Chat Icon

I waited to tell the rest of the world until I was 11 weeks.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

For #1 it was ~13 weeks. We were OOS and wanted to be in person.

#2 was same...after 12 week test results

#3 was ~10/11 weeks, b/c we needed babysitters for my CVS and I was missing a family party the next day.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

DC #1 we told them after a sono at 9 weeks

This dc, if all goes well we plan to tell them at 12 weeks...if I can hold it in! We're going on a vacation w/both sets of grandparents & dh would really like to tell all of them at once on the trip if we can. I don't know if I'll be able to keep it from my mom that long though Chat Icon

Re: When did you tell your parents?

A lot sooner then we had wanted. MIL has this strange gift and she always knows when someone is pregnant. We found out on December 22nd and we were celebrating Christmas at her house. She asked DH about 20 times if I was pregnant or not. So about a week later we decided we should just tell since his mom already knew and mine had not a clue. So it was really early on. We waited until 8 weeks to tell our siblings and then 12 weeks for everyone else.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

I got my BFP on a Saturday and I told my mom (and dad) on Monday. We told my IL's about a week later, after AF was officially late and I felt more confident I wasn't going to have another chemical.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

We waited until we had been to the doctor and seen the heartbeat with both pregnancies before telling our parents. As soon as that happened, we waited until we were going to see them in person to tell them (only a couple days after the appt.). It was about 7 weeks each time.

Re: When did you tell your parents?

The day we got our BFP :) which was New Years Eve. We stop by my ILs first, then my parents. I think I was about 5 weeks at that point. The rest of the family was around 8-12 weeks depending on who we saw, or who our parents told.
