Re: TMI Question

I have not had them bad at all but if I feel a little "irritated" in that area I just use a little cortisone cream. It does the trick for me.

Re: TMI Question

Buy yourself the preparation H wipes that have the witch hazel in them (I have the CVS brand). Use them to wipe instead of toilet paper when you are hurting/bleeding. And definitely buy the preparation H cream too. Put the cream on after using the wipes, after showering, etc. My mom was telling me about the Tucks pads. I didn't purchase these but apparently they are like the wipes but can be left on to soothe the area. Not sure what caused your problem but if its constipation try taking a stool softener. Between the stool softeners, wipes, and cream I have been able to hang in there...

Good Luck!!!

Re: TMI Question

If they are really swollen, put ice on them...that helped me. Also using the wipes instead of toilet paper from here on in is great advice - that has definitely helped me! Feel better, I know it's really uncomfy Chat Icon

Re: TMI Question

I'm dealing with this now. At 39 w, with the baby pressing down right there... ugh. The pain is so bad it wakes me up from sleep sometimes. I've done the following, and it's gotten better:

Don't use toilet paper - only baby wipes or Tucks (or store brand witch hazel pads).

Prep H when you wake up, before you go to bed, and right after you go #2 on the toilet

If it's really bad like mine, you can try a Sitz bath - a $15 basin you put on your toilet, fill with warm water and Epsom salt, and soak your toosh in for 20 minutes once or twice a day. The warm salty water promotes healing.

Also, you want to keep yourself "regular." I know you'll feel like you want to stop yourself from going to the bathroom because it hurts, but the longer in between bathroom trips, the harder your stools are and the more you'll aggravate the condition. So eat fiber (fruit is great) and drink tons of water.

Feel better! Chat Icon
