I know it doesn't make it any easier at all but chemicals are pretty common and it doesn't mean anything is wrong. It just happens sometimes :(
I think it is worth getting checked out though even if for just peace of mind, I know having all of the testing done helped to ease my worries and if something does come up you can prevent another loss.
The second month of trying after the miscarriage I had that weird thing happen with the positive pregnancy test and then a negative HCG. It totally could have been a chemical and it really threw me for loop and discouraged me but 2 months later I conceived a healthy pregnancy which is still going good so far. So hang in there and don't give up or lose hope
