After your shower...

Out of curiousity how many items off your registry (or just in general) did you have to buy for the baby. I am sure some of it was you bought later on if you didn't get when you needed (i.e. highchair) but how many essential items did you not get at your shower that you had to end up buying?

just curious....I get paranoid everytime i look at my registry as I have 72 items on there and 37 were bought thus far (although I have 2 showers 1 in NY this weekend and 1 in Pittsburgh since i live in pgh but from NY so my family is there). I think most of Pittsburgh people did shop but my shower is not until sept 17th so hard to tell..and they are not as generous as my family..hehe....

Thanks for the info!

None. We received every essential item, some doubles even. I did bring things back and bought myself nursing stuff (bras, pads etc.) oh and a baby bathtub, that is the only thing we did not get that we need.

We used our completion coupon at BBB and still spent somewhere between $500-$600 on stuff we NEEDED before the baby came. Crib mattress/mattress pad, sheets, nursing stuff, etc. One of my good friends whose registry was twice as big as mine and had twice as many at her shower spent about $1000 after her shower.

It depends on what you think you need, and also what you register for for your shower. If you register for a ton of cute little outfits, you'll get them, but at the expense of "un-fun" things like tubing for your breast pump.

Re: After your shower...

We had 2 showers. All of the really big items were purchased. Except for the twins mattresses. Many people didn't buy from the registry. We had a pile of returns and are now waiting for the completion coupons. Lots of the smaller things were not purchased. So now I'm craigs list hunting for the items that are only used for a small amount of time that can be sanitized, so I can save the gift cards and $$from returns for the things that I am not comfortable buying secondhand.

I know that most of my bigger items have been purchased aside from a few items my mom mentioned were still on there that im hoping get covered by the other shower (i.e. baby monitor, play mat, high chair, and baby bjorn). Not too concerned about smaller items (sheets, ect.) cause im sure can always purchase those myself....plus I think some people are giving us money so that will cover some of the larger expenses....

Not too too concerned...I just was curious if everyone else is/was in similar boat :)

The only essentials we didn't get were our stroller and our crib mattress. Our stroller is a high ticket item though and we didn't expect anyone to buy it. However, something either went wrong with my registry or wrong with my guests and I got doubles of a lot of things including 2 pack and plays, 3 jumpers, 2 exersaucers, 2 FP Rock and Swing, 2 travel high chairs, etc. so I have a credit to BBB that will cover the stroller and the gift cards will cover the mattress.

Re: After your shower...

Nothing really. Everything essential was bought. There were a few little things not bought (side snap shirts, shampoo- though I did get another type of shampoo)...

I really dont NEED to buy anything except a therm., and baby med.

I was really lucky!!!

You'll see a lot of that stuff will go!!
