RH negative
i just switched docs, and found out today that since i am RH negative i will need a shot at 28 weeks and possibly at delivery. I'm so mad my previous doc never ONCE mentioned this to me. I'm worried because a couple of weeks ago i had some very minimal spotting (just on the TP and such a small amount) and i did tell my previous doc because i had an appt the day that it happened. they did not mention getting the shot at all, told me to wait and see if it got better, should i be worried that i didn't get the shot then??

Re: RH negative
My BFF had Rh and I do not think they give the shot until 28w, I could be wrong though She and her DD are both happy & healthy.

Re: RH negative
I am RH neg. and got a shot at 28 weeks...not bad at all. Then probably again after delivery. My OB said before I got the shot that if I was bleeding a lot to tell him and I would have to get it earlier. If you were just spotting you are fine.

thank you, this makes me feel much better! i knew my blood type was negative, but didn't even realize it could cause a problem or i would need to get shots.

Re: RH negative
I'm Rh - and when I was pregnant with my ds I had some spotting early on a few times. I didn't need the shot until I had a more significant bleed around 14 weeks. I got it again at 28 weeks and post delivery. This time I had spotting again but I didn't need the shot then, I will get it in 2.5 weeks at 28 weeks again.

Re: RH negative
I am Rh - and had bleeding early on in the pregnancy . They gave me a shot at 7 wks and said that it would be repeated at 28. But if I had not been spotting early on, I would not have gotten it then.

Re: RH negative
I am Rh negative, I got my first shot at 11.5 weeks because I had some very light spotting. My dr did it more as a precautionary method. I am supposed to get a shot at 28 weeks and then at delivery.
I would tell your new OB about the spotting and see what they say. Also it's weird that your old OB never told you. I found out at 7 weeks that I was Rh negative. Good thing you switched

Re: RH negative
It was most likely your own blood, so no need to worry.
It's only when baby is RH + and their blood mixes with yours that it is a concern.
Do you know what DH is? If he is also Rh-, than you don't need Rhogam at all.

Re: RH negative
I'm RH-, however we used a doner that was RH-. The RE said that as long as the sperm was - there would not be a problem.

Re: RH negative
Crashing
I don't think you have to be concerned if you were spotting, it has to be a substantial amount of blood during early pregnancy for them to give you the shot before 28 weeks.
I'm A- and I had the shot after I had a m/c and then when I was 28 weeks and since my DS has A+ blood, I had to get the shot at birth.
You will only get it at birth if your child is RH+, if the baby has RH- blood like you then no shot is needed.

Re: RH negative
Just like others...I am RH- and had to get the shot early on because of bleeding. I think I was 8 weeks. I will not have to get it again until 28 weeks and then delivery unless I bleed again.
You should be ok, but if you spot again or bleed express your concerns to your doctor.
