1-hour glucose test today....with question
ugh I have to go for my 1-hour glucose test later today. I am dreading this bc I am awful at drinking things and know I will have a hard time getting this drink down.
my question is...did you refrigerate the drink or drink it warm?
my dr's instructions just says don't drink on ice, but it doesnt say whether or not it can be refrigerated.

I absolutely refridgerated mine and I also drank it over ice. I was never told no ice by my dr. I sucked it down in a matter of minutes so I really don't think the ice made that much of a difference. THere is no way I would get that down warm. Ack!

When I went to Quest labs, it was given to me cold. My flavor was lemon lime and I was surprised I didn't have a hard time drinking it.

did you have to fast before you went? I'm going to Quest next weekend.. 8 am appt.. I figured I'll go fasting, just in case. I'd like to put something in my tummy after I brush my teeth though

I did not have to fast for the 1 hour, I did however have to fast for the 3 hour. Just no food 12 hours before. Water was encouraged.

I'm sitting in the doctor's office right now waiting to take mine. I was told to put it in the fridge and on the day of pour 5 ounces into a measuring cup, throw some ice in it and drink it from there.
I had the lemon lime one. I thought it was gross. I actually gagged and I haven't had any morning sickness. I'm praying I pass! Good luck!

it's so strange that everyone is told different things...some people are told to fast others are told not to. Some ppl are told to drink it on ice others are not. You would think they would have one standard way that this test is done.

Everytime I go to Quest they give it to me cold. I've had both the lemon lime and the orange. Both taste like flat soda to me. I don't have a hard time drinking them either. I'll tell you if I feel the same after Friday when I have to do the 3-hour test . You really only have 5 min to get it down, at least that's what they told me at Quest.

It was given to me all orangey and cold in the lab. Not pleasant either way after fasting for 8 hours (I took the elusive 2-hour test). Good luck... i can still taste it.

I had the orange and I didn't think it was bad at all either. And I don't drink soda at all. I definitely drank it cold though.
ETA: My doctor told me to eat as I usually do and not to fast.

ok ladies thanks for all your advice! I just drank it! I definitely psyched myself out all day bc it wasn't as bad as I expected....I mean it wasn't good by any means but definitely did taste like a thick, flat orange soda. I was able to get it down. I don't think I could have if I drank it warm though!!
now off to the dr to get my bloodwork!

I didnt refridgerate it because I didn't know if I was supposed to, and it was nasty!!! I wish I did keep it cold!!! Call your dr and ask because I think it would have helped if it was cold.
It stinks, but you'll suck it up and be ok! Hope you can keep it cold

Glad it wasnt bad and you were able to have it cold.I almost puked from it, but I think it was worse because it was warm. ughhhh
