Ceiling Fans for baby's rooms

I read that having a ceiling fan in the baby's room decreases the risk of SIDS.

For this reason - joined with the fact that the air in our upstairs rooms is pretty dry and warmer than the rest of the house - we are installing ceiling fans.

Do you have a ceiling fan? If so, what style did you go with?

Does it match the furniture? Is it meant for a kid's room (design wise) or just a standard design? Is it wood or one of those wicker fan looking fans?

This is our furniture:

We have a ceiling fan in DS's room and in DD to be's room. We wanted to circulate the air. We did a basic white to match the ceiling. I don't even know what style it is but it is a white one from Lowes. Sorry I am not much help.

Re: Ceiling Fans for baby's rooms

we installed ceiling fans in every bedroom before we moved in. for the spare room (which will be the nursery), we bought a basic white fan that blends in with the ceiling. this was before we knew what we were even going to do with the room. for our bedroom, we already had furniture, so we picked out a fan with blades that are the same wood finish as our furniture and accents the same finish as our furniture hardware. both look really nice. i think we went with Hunter fans.

Do you have white furniture, too? Or darker furniture?

Me too. I don't think it has to batch the furniture. If the ceiling is white, a white fan should be fine.

We already have a ceiling fan in the room we will be using for the nursery. It is a small white wooden one with a remote control. I'm pretty sure it's by Hampton Bays.

We have ordered cherry furniture but all the moulding and the closet door is white so we are leaving up the white fan.

Same here. I think fan's a great in bedrooms to circulate air when you're sleeping but I'm not a huge fan of the look of a ceiling fan so we got a white one in hopes it would blend into the ceiling. It definitely does!

We ordered all dark furniture and we put in a white fan.

I think a dark fan wouldnt look nice in the room.

Re: Ceiling Fans for baby's rooms

I had one installed this weekend. I bought a white one because one day it will be the guest room and didn't want to have to change it. Our cribs are an off white and the dresser is oak.

I got a regular ceiling fan that matched DS's furniture.

Re: Ceiling Fans for baby's rooms

I didn't have a fan in DS#1's room when he was a baby. For DS#2, we bought a regular fan with cherry blades to match his furniture. At the same time we got a space themed fan for DS#1's big boy room which matches his theme, but not furniture. He's at the age where he appreciates the kid themed fan. He'll eventually grow out of it, but not for many years. I hope DS#2 likes his regular fan and doesn't feel gypped. LOL
