Thankfully DS never took to breast for me to have to make this decision, so I pumped and bottle fed, but I don't know if that will be the case with new DD coming into the world.

I would probably get a nursing cover and try to make it as private as possible. Not really sure. I never got enough BM to cover anyway, so I would probably formula feed when we're out.

ITA. I NEVER thought I'd be the type of person to BF in public, I am way too shy. When DS was first born, I'd go back to the car and BF him there if it were feasible. Other times, I would sit on a bench with the stroller in front of me and DH sitting next to me kind of blocking me from view. After a few months, I got comfortable enough to just BF wherever, whenever. If someone had a problem with it, it was THEIR issue, not mine. DH is 100% supportive about it and doesn't feel weird about me BF in public at all.

Same here. Prior to having DS I never thought I could BF in public and could not believe people did it. Well I am one of "those" women now! I would BF him whereever and whenever and did not care who had a problem with it. To be honest nobody ever said a word to me and I never got a dirty look or anything that I noticed. I plan to do the same with DD when she arrives. I didn't even use a cover unless absoultely necessary. I made sure my shirt was low enouch to cover any exposed breast. DH was more than supportive and that is what helped me to overcome my fear and BF DS as long as I did. Hopefully your DH will turn around and become more supportive on this issue if it is something you truly want to do.

I didn't BF my first 2, I may BF this one.

Regardless-I don't think anyone should eat in a bathroom (gross!) and I also don't think people should whip out a breast for all to see. Discreetly Bfing in public is fine IMO.

Simple solution- when HE BF's then he can decide where and when he "whips it out".
Some men just don't get it. If your baby is hungry and you have a COVER, wherever you feel comfortable is the place to do it. Chat Icon
