Enough dessert for 30? Good choices?

We're having a double graduation party at my sister's house on Saturday. We'll have about 28 to 30 people. I'm in charge of desserts, here's what I'm thinking:

(1) sheet cake from Costco, probably vanilla icing with fruit inside

(1) Blueberry Bundt Cake (special request from 1 grad)

(2) 9" pans of Blueberry Cheesecake Squares (another special request)

(2) Fruit boats with whipped cream topping

Do you think it's enough dessert? Too much fruit? I know it's summer and all, and it is an afternoon party, but part of me is wondering if I should get a couple of tins of chocolate chip cookies. The last time I made strawberry cobbler, that went over well too. The youngest kids will be my sister's and they prefer the cake/squares.

What do you think?

I would say plenty of dessert. If you want cookies I would pick up one pkg that would be more than enough

I think that's enough--the Costco cake probably feeds a lot (the order form probably estimates), but I would get something without fruit.

The Bundt cake & cheesecake seem a little redundant since they are both blueberry, but if the graduates requsted them-I would leave them.

Maybe change the Costco cake to a non-fruit filling if you don't want to add on something else.

Ok so I'll get one package of cookies for finger-food type stuff. Maybe I'll change the Bundt cake to cranberry. I've never used them in it before but I think they go good with a sweet/nutty cake.

I think you should cookies or some chocolate mini cupcakes or something. It is lacking in chocolate and smaller pick at items... but that will probably be enough if you add one of those.

I agree - it's all fruit and no chocolate. Cupcakes or brownies...something like that would be yummy!

sounds like enought, but the blueberry/fruit is redundant. I feel like you are missing the most important dessert... chocolate!!!! Maybe get the costco brownies?

Ok, I changed out the Blueberry bundt cake for a strawberry crisp and a peach crisp.

This is the recipe I use for the Blueberry Bundt and my family loves it. Even the kids. I usually change recipes as I go along, but not this one... it's perfect. Chat Icon

I agree with cookies. Maybe instead of one of the cheesecakes you can replace it with a batch of cookies? I don't think its too much fruit- fruit goes so fast at BBQs!

Re: Enough dessert for 30? Good choices?

Ok, I got two packages of chocolate chip cookies, and I also bought two angel food cakes - one vanilla and one chocolate. I figured I could slice them and people could use it as a base for their fruit, top it off with the whipped cream.

Now I'm hungry!!

Thanks so much for your help. If I remember, I'll take a pic of the dessert table when I'm done with it. Chat Icon
