Changing hospitals
I gave birth the first time around at LIJ and if we TTC again, I feel like myself and the LO would be in the best hands there.
I also know they are supposed to be opening the new women's center next year.
However, I just don't know if I want to deal with all that driving all they way up to the North Shore and back anymore. (It's like 30-40 minutes one way with no traffic).
Good Sam is the closest hospital to us. I know two people personally who have given birth there (one's LO was in the NICU) but I am just so nervous about going to a new hospital.
If you gave birth at Good Sam, what was your experience? Would you make the trek for what you feel is a better hospital?

Haha, I'm replying on both your threads
I had my 2 girls at Good Sam. I REALLY like their labor and delivery floor. The nurses were AMAZING, when there was an emergency situation with DD2 they were super fast, but still explained what was going on, just really amazing.
I didn't care for the maternity floor. The rooms were really small and with the exception of one or 2 nurses they just didn't seem to really care. This was the case both times.
My SIL had her DS at Southside and had a TERRIBLE experience there, though I know people who had good experiences there.
Maybe I'm just picky, LOL

I don't think you are being picky. I have never been in SS but have heard bad things about it.
And I am just so bias because I love the fact that LIJ is such a large teaching hospital with a huge children's hospital affiliated.
My nieces were there and so was my BFF's son......it's the best place you hope you never have to use.

Re: Changing hospitals
I delivered at Good Sam (March 2010) and loved it. Great doctors and nurses. Yes, the maternity rooms are small but it's not bad. I would totally go back.
