any ideas to stimulate movement?

I am 33 weeks and have not really felt the baby move since sometime yesterday evening. Maybe I just slept through movement overnight or have not noticed bc DD is being a nightmare today and I have been busy with her but I am getting nervous now. DD is down for a nap so I am trying to relax on the couch to see if I notice any movement. I have had some caffeine and some cold water but nothing yet. Also been pushing on my belly to see if that works. Anything else I can try before I freak myself out and call the dr?

Re: any ideas to stimulate movement?

Try putting something cold on your belly. When I want to feel the baby move, I can just put a package of frozen veggies low on my stomach and I'll feel her start fighting it pretty quickly, if she's awake.

If she's not awake, it doesn't seem to wake her up.

Loud noises do wake her up though - we went to see the new "X Men" movie last weekend, and as soon as the coming attractions started and stuff started blowing up, she started squirming and kicking, and stayed awake for the 2 hours.

I hate it when I don't feel the baby move for hours. It's gone as long as half a day for me, but when she's ready, she'll move. Chat Icon

Try drinking some juice Chat Icon

I drank a big glass of O.J. last night and Chat Icon became a Rockette all of a sudden. It really works for me! It takes a good 8-10 minutes, though. The other things I suggested are pretty immediate.

I'm sure it's nothing and you were just busy with your other DC all day so you didn't notice. And maybe Baby is sleeping ever since you started noticing / worrying.

I would try some juice, but if you still aren't feeling movement, better call the doctor. Better safe than sorry, and my doctors always cite non-movement as one of the top reasons to call.

I notice movement a LOT more when I'm laying on my side.

I also was just singing to the baby and felt a kick every now and then. I don't know if that means the baby does or doesn't like my voice! lol. I'm going to assume baby loves mommy's voice! (even though I'm no singer!)

Thanks everyone! I just felt some small movements so I am going to count that as good for now. Hopefully baby is just having a lazy day and wont freak mama out anymore!

Re: any ideas to stimulate movement?

I'm so glad you feel movement! With Emmy I would drink something cold and lay in bed on my side. She always loved it and would wiggle around and move for me. Sometimes it took awhile, but never more then 10 or 15 minutes. I would also push on my belly to help "wake" her up. For her moving was a huge sleep inducer.

So I just put a bag of frozen peas on my belly (against DH's wishesChat Icon ) and DS kicked me RIGHT away Chat Icon

Works every time!

DH also yells at me for doing it: "Stop torturing the kid!" Chat Icon

Re: any ideas to stimulate movement?

OJ never works for me. I just shake my belly a bit. If that doesnt work i push a little on my belly like slight pressure. Also just this week i didnt feel DD at all for pretty much the whole day. I decided to not freak & the next day she was all over the place. And hasnt stopped since. lol Except for when i sleep. Thankfully. LOL
