Should I come out at work?-updated I told

my plan was to wait until at least 12 weeks if not 15. but today I seriously popped. I have a total belly. and in the morning I'm usually the smallest Chat Icon

I'm afraid of my boss but he's in a really good mood today, but I just never wanted to tell him, like ever Chat Icon

the more i think about the earlier the better, in case he fires me I have lots of time to find a new job(especially while I'm still on the small side). I know legally he can not, but my boss is a jerk and you just never know. He could just say he doesn't need me anymore and I would be stuck proving it was because I am pregnant.

I'm hiding behind a large sweater over my clothes today, but it gets really hot in the afternoons and I will have to take it off.

Any idea's if I should/should not tell him this early? I'm 9 weeks

Please help!

I am in the same exact boat that you are in....9 weeks, boss can be a jerk especially to expectant moms...I am dreading telling him too but I am trying to hold out another 3 weeks, but not sure how much longer I can hide it

for me, 9 weeks would have been too early. i didnt tell my boss/department till 14 weeks cause i wanted to wait till after my first tri. dont feel pressured to tell unless you're comfortable.

I'm showing that's the only reason. My boss can totally see it. that's the only reason I feel like I should tell him. even the girls in my office said something to me today Chat Icon

I'm usually the one to say to wait until YOU are ready to come out. In your case, if you have people making comments and if you think it would make it to boss, would be able to play it off and say, I wanted to wait. Also, another thing is that, or I could be wrong.. you can't technically fire a preggo or a new mom.. every job has to make reasonable accomodations. Chat Icon

Re: Should I come out at work?

I told my boss at 9 weeks. I was showing and had ms so I had to tell him. He was great about it and said he and the other women had a feeling anyway. It was better for me cause then they knew why i was sleeping at my desk lol Chat Icon I personally dont think its to early to tell.

Re: Should I come out at work?

don't ask me...I am 15 weeks and still haven't told anyone at work. One woman asked me, but luckily she hasn't said anything. I definitely have a belly but try to hide it with flowy shirts. I guess I should tell soon!

You should just tell when you are comfortable. Wait til 12-15 weeks if that is when you wanted to do it.

dont tell until you feel comfortable.. people may guess but you dont have to confirm. If you think your boss would handle it better if you told him sooner rather than later, or if you are stressing so much you rather get it over with then just bite the bullet and tell him as long as you feel comfortable announcing. Im sorry that you have to deal with a crappy boss!

I told him. I felt so much stress "waiting" to tell hi that its actually a huge relief he knows. He seems to be ok with it.

He even asked me if I was going to take 2 or 3 months off Chat Icon is it actually an option?!? I told him I didn't know... this went so much better then I thought! Chat Icon
