If you have an outside basement entrance...

Is your door solid or does it have windows in it? It's time to replace ours but DH and I disagree on what kind to get.

Our basement is unfinished and there's no entrance to the inside of the house within it, if that makes a difference on what you would choose if you were us.

DH and I have an OSE that does lead to the house. We decided on a door that has two top levels only for safety, but to still allow some light in.

My father's house has an outside basement entrance. He's always had a solid steel door and I just replaced it with one. There are windows within three feet of each side of the door so light was never an issue.

We're in the planning stages of our basement remodel, and we've chosen a 12-light steel door for our OSE...

I have two basement doors, and both have windows in the top half. Lets in an amazing amount of light for a basement window. I definitely wouldn't want a solid door at either location.

Thanks guys. I wanted a door with windows in it, but not six panes, just the top. DH wanted a solid door.

We could actually swap our front door for the basement door and then upgrade the front instead.
