Question about moles and voles

Can you get this little sucker out of the blue? We just did a bunch of work to our backyard. My new grass is finally starting to growChat Icon i went out to water and notice these little holes in the ground that were NOT there this morning. So, google said they could be moles or voles. I do notice a raised tunnel like thing to and fro. So, I dont do rodents. I dont want them in my yard. What does one do for this?

Re: Question about moles and voles

I have themChat Icon for the past 3 yrs(since my dog died)
I tried these expensive sonar thingy's that you stick in the ground. SUCKED!
Then my crazy neighbor told me that you can get rid of them with Juicyfruit GumChat Icon . I thought she was nuts, but it friggin workedChat Icon

They key is to try to figure out the main tunnel. It will always be against something solid like the foundation of your house, a patio, a retaining wall. I bought a HUGE multi pack of juicy fruit. My and my DD walked around shoving the gum into all the holes and into the raised tunnels along the way. We targeted what we thought was the main tunnels, but really put it everywhere. DD decided to chew her gum a little first and I just squished mine up and stuck it in.
According to the crazy neighbor, they are attracted to it, they eat it and choke. Sorry, I know its mean but they DESTROYED my entire backyard and 1/2 my front yard. My kids could not walk outside with falling because of the lawn.
It took about 3 weeks and we found 2 dead moles.

I've heard of what AP wrote with the chewing gum, and also of mixing castor oil and laundry detergent in a spray bottle and spraying it on the holes and when the mole tries to get out it gets on their fur, they try to lick it off and it kills them! Or you can smoke them out with rodent smoke bombs!

Re: Question about moles and voles

We have had them for at least 3 years & we cant get rid of them. I am going to try the gum tip though. My dog keeps trying to catch them with no luck but I do have a nice dug up backyard.

Re: Question about moles and voles

We have voles along our fence line but they are mainly in the neighbors yard. They are good at reducing the mosquito population. My cat has killed most of the population and gave them to us as a gift. We the amount she killed last year I am sure they are gone.
