Where am I going wrong??? (long)

So its 6.23 am and I have been up since 5 am...what the h-e-double hockey sticks is going on here! We are having terrible sleep problems and I just don't know where I am going wrong! So any help is appreciated.

Since coming back from our trip to America we have been having TERRIBLE sleep problems and its starting to get to me. So since coming back Noah will NOT sleep in his co-sleeper or the crib that is in my bedroom (so imagine this, I have BOTH bed choices next to my bed) he will ony sleep in bed with me! So poor hubby is in the spare bedroom yet again!! So what happens is regular bedtime routine at around 7.30 ish, has a bottle, falls asleep in my arms at about 8.10... the minute I put him down in the crib...awake! crying! So I put him in the bed with me laying down and he seems to stay awake. So now what happens is he stays asleep for most of the night in my bed with me and wakes up at various early morning times...3.50, 4,00, 4.30, 5...you get the idea.

Needless to say, I am knackered. Last night he was asleep by 9ish, woke up again at 1.30 am, fell back asleep at 2 am and was up for good at 5....he used to sleep in his own bed from around 9 am to at least 7 am....if not later!!!

So here are some things that have changed:
1 - now he is eating solids
2 - obviously, trip and jet lag
3 - sleeping in my bed
4 - he is almost sitting up and tries to pull himself up all the time
5 - he is an evil genius who wants to torture me

and here are some other things...
A. I have tried to CIO but I don't know enough about it, he cried for around 90 minutes and I had enough one night
B. He hates being swaddled, I have tried it
C. I have blackout curtains, but some light does get through
D. I offer him a bottle, but he doesn't seem to want any milk
E. He is a terrible napper, he might only have two 20 minute naps a day, on me, or in the pram while we are out and about.

I have no idea how to solve this problem and feel completely helpless!!! I know how important sleep is to both Baby and myself....
I am actually thinking of finding a sleep professional to come in and help me!

So the $64,000 question is...how do you make a baby who doesn't want to sleep, sleep????

How old is Noah? I can tell you I went through a similar- sleep awake pattern with my daughter a couple of months ago. I never had the must sleep with me in my bed thing though because we have never co slept.

Have you tried putting maybe a t-shirt of yours in there so he can smell you.

Saoirse has been the same since our trip to Ireland. She has this crazy notion that 4:30am is a great time to wake up. And of course in turn she gets Fiona up.Chat Icon
I guess it takes them longer to get back into a normal routine.
I have tried the whole keep them up later. Make sure they are good & full when they go to bed. nothing has helped. I am completely knackered & have fallen asleep for a few minutes during the day. I have put Saoirse in bed w/ me & rubbed her belly till she would fall bcak to sleep. And then I am to tired to put her back in the crib!

So if anyone has the magic sure for this please share!!! Chat Icon

Can't help with the nap issues because Katie also only naps for about 20 minutes at a time a few times a day, which I know is not enough because she gets so cranky.

But at night, she used to be the exact same way, refusing the co sleeper after awhile and only getting any real sleep in bed with us.

We had to use CIO at night, it was absolutely awful to do but she is now sleeping in her crib all night (she still wakes up a in the wee hours, but is getting better)

If you can get through the first night of CIO the second is better, I promise. By the 4th night she was going right to sleep in there.
