Re: dumb question
Level 1 is the sono to check for NT defects/downs- done around 12 weeks
Level 2 is the sono to determine gender and ck all parts! - done around 20 weeks

Re: dumb question
My Dr hasn't mentioned anything about a level 1 sono. I had a sono at 10 weeks to see the baby, hear the heart beat. I have another appt scheduled on May 4th, but he said nothing about a sono at that appt. My next will be in June and that will be a sono. Should I be asking the Dr about this Level 1 and why I didn't have it?

Re: dumb question
My OB didn't do a Level I or Level II. They did just a basic NT ultrasound at 12 weeks and they did just a basic anatomy scan at 20 weeks. Because the anatomy scan revealed a white spot on the baby's heart, they sent us to a specialist elsewhere to do a Level II detailed u/s. I asked what the difference was between the scans my OB's office does and the "Level I and Level II" and they just said it has to do with the detail of the machine and how much of the baby they look at and measure. Apparently it's not always routine to go into more detail, depending on the practice. You can ask about it at your OB's office, but I wouldn't worry about it.
