Re: disney cruise?

There are a few reasons IMO. First, you are paying for the Disney name, and service. Second, they have a lot of extra "cast members" to pay for since everything is Disney themed and you get to see a million shows and characters. Third, they include things like soda in the price that other cruise lines charge extra for. I have been on 5 Disney cruises, plus cruises on Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and soon Carnival. Nothing has compared to Disney. I feel like it is worth the money if you have young children. HTH

Re: disney cruise?

It absolutely has to do with the Disney name and service, and like the previous poster, I feel they are leaps and bounds above most of the other mass market cruise lines and worth the money.

That said, it was not all that long ago when you didn't see some of the bargain cruise fares you see today. Cruising was a luxury and you paid accordingly. Since cruising has become more popular, cruise lines have steadily built up huge fleets of ships they have to fill every week (in some cases multiple times per week), and in many cases they have to reduce fares to attract enough guests to make the cruise profitable (or the losses to a minimum).

Disney on the other hand, which is obviously an extremely popular brand has only 3 ships, which means they usually have enough demand where they can charge (and receive) a premium fare.

we are thinking of trying the cruise to nowhere, next summer out of NY. kids will be 6 and 3 by than. we are not sure we are ready for a full week long cruise so we like the idea of "testing the water"

Re: disney cruise?

They also do not have a casino on Disney Cruises. That generates a lot of money and they have to make it up some how and it is in the fares.
