Weight gain question
So my doctor told me a good amount to gain during my entire pregnancy would be around 15-20 pounds (my prepregnancy weight was 112 lbs). I am in week 9 and already gained 7 pounds. Is this normal? If I keep it up at this rate I will definitely be over the 20 pound mark! I was eating alll the time in the beginning...but recently I have been more nauseous to the point where I can't eat heavy things so I've been eating lots of fruits and yogurt...things easy to get down, but still gaining. Any advice on the weight gain thing? This is my first pregnancy! Thanks!!!

Re: Weight gain question
When I was pregnant last year, I started out at 112 too. By the time I reached 16wks, I had gained 12lbs. I was always a little concerned, but the doctor never was. I was told it would all level out ultimately and since I gained more in the first tri, it would probably level out after that.
Well, I never made it much beyond that so I don't know what would have happened.... but I do know nobody was concerned!!
ETA: Actually, I gained 12lbs by the end of the first tri and just stayed at that weight from 13-17wks.

Re: Weight gain question
Only 15-20 lbs??? That seems a little low. My dr and most things you read online say a women of average wight should gain anywhere from 25-30 lbs during pregnancy. Less if you are over weight and more if you are under weight. Some women gain 15-20 in the first 2 trimesters alone!

Re: Weight gain question
Recommended wt gain is based off of your prepregnancy weight. If your BMI is normal then the recommended wt gain is 25-35lb. If your BMI is >25 then the wt gain should be less, 15-20lbs.
