Update on my power and gas bill problems and WARNING ABOUR PEAK NON PEAK POWER!!!!!

Well, sure enough, we find out that the power comapny has been estimating our bills all F'ing winter.

I overpaid power by........$1250.00.

I overpaid gas by...........$607.00

So I have BIG PHAT credits now.

My power bill was adjusted and now I have a credit of -$320.

My gas bill was adjusted. My last bill went from $600 to $181. AND they gave me a credit of $607!!

So for 2 months I owe National Grid $633 (and I havent paid in full since January since the bills have been so high)

So it all worked out!!!!

Now to the warning::::

We were NEVER told, when we rented the house, that we are peak/non peak POWER (LIPA). We had 3 bills last summer that were $800 and one that was $1200. We kept asking what was wrong and no one told us.

YES, its on the bill. YES I should have looked closer.

I had always lived in apartmetns and didnt even know this was something that existed.

So the moral of the story is if you are moving from an apartment to a house, WEATHER BUYING OR RENTING, LOOK at the bills closely.

Now we know that we wont leave the AC on during the day when we are at work!

glad you got it all sorted out. However, about leaving the AC running. From my understanding, when you arent home you should turn it up but not off. Reason being that it takes more to start from scratch and cool it off as opposed to leaving it on higher and turning it down when you get home.

I *think* this is the case. I remember when my sister moved into her first apt she got one or two CRAZY high bills during AC season and it was bc she was turning it off and then cranking it when she got home to cool it off. They told her it would cost less to run it higher everyday, and then just turn it down.

Ill FM her and have her read this to make sure I remember correctly.
