Re: at what week
I was told that the parts are fully developed by around 15-16 weeks so if baby is cooperative they can tell at that point. Of course, there's talk about the angle of the dangle etc for earlier sonos, but I wouldn't rely on any gender determinations before 15-16w.
We had a sono tech tell us she thought she could tell the gender at 11w2d, and then asked a different tech at our NT scan at 12w1d. Both told us they thought but not to go painting the nursery. At 16w1d we were told pretty definitively that it was a and given a shot of his goods. Both doctor and sono tech told us it was not changing and to go ahead and tell family, etc. We picked a name, registered, and even bought boy bedding. Yesterday at 20w it was re-confirmed to be a with more photo evidence, plus they showed us the goodies in 3D. The tech said she never likes to tell anyone 100% but she couldn't be any more sure.
