Is there anything you can do to make sure the test comes out good? Should i make sure i stay away from alot of sugar for that particular week??? Is this dumb to think i can do this and pass? lol

Re: Question about 1hr glucose
I passed...I didn't change my diet that much, but tried not to have extra sweets the day before. My dr suggested fasting...so I didn't eat after midnight the night before, but was afraid I'd be starving in the am, so I had a bowl of oatmeal around 11:30.
I dont think there is a way to "beat the test" but my Dr. said fasting helps avoid a false positive.
I did drink water the morning of, and Im glad I did b/c the stuff was thick and sweet and made me thirsty.
Good Luck!

Re: Question about 1hr glucose
I avoided lots of heavy sugars for a the sunday and monday before the tuesday test. By avoided heavy sugars I mean I didn't indulge in my daily bag of gummy bears or sour patch kids and didn't have a nightly ice cream. I ate a small meal before I went in that morning that didn't have a lot of sugars, string cheese and low carb bread.

Re: Question about 1hr glucose
I would just try not to overdo it on the sugar the week before, but I wouldn't try to trick the test so to speak. If there is a problem, you want to know about it and not end up with a false negative (if that's possible?) I took it easy on the sweets for 2 days before, had a light dinner and nothing after that, no breakfast and still failed the 1 hour, but passed the 3. Good luck!

Re: Question about 1hr glucose
There is nothing you can do do avoid failing it... Some people fast and fail it. Some people eat and pass it. I ate a scrambled egg one hour before I took the test. I failed by 2 points. And every doctor goes by a different number. According to the ADA, 140 is failing. My OB uses 130. A lot of women fail the 1 hour and pass the 3 hour with flying colors!!! Good luck..
