Re: coming home outfit
I suggest NB unless for some reason you think you're going to have a GIANT baby.
DD is only just over 10 lbs now at 10 weeks old. She was born at 7 lbs 2 oz but left the hospital at 6 lbs 10 oz -- they lose weight from birth usually for the first week.
She's just now wearing 0-3s and some 3 m things at 10 1/2 lbs and about 22 inches. So if you think your baby will be 10+ lbs and 22+ inches, then bring 0-3 clothes. But nb will work otherwise. My friends who are 6' and 6'7" had a baby who was born at 9 lbs and 21 inches -- now at 6 months old she is outgrowing her 9 month clothing. But that's somewhat unusual.

Re: coming home outfit
I was wondering the same thing. My parents bought a 'coming home' outfit that is size newborn and I bought an outfit that is size 0-3. I was planning on just bringing both and seeing what fits our LO best.

Re: coming home outfit
0-3...newborn sizes only go to 8 lbs and DD was 8lbs when she was born, newborn clothes don't last lone with full term babies IMO.

Newborn. Everyone I have ever spoken to advised against 0-3 months. They said even heavier babies are swimming in 0-3 month clothes.

Re: coming home outfit
I have both because I like them both and can't decide so I will let his size determine the day we come home.

Re: coming home outfit
I don't know why, but I had a really hard time finding actual "newborn" sizes in the coming home outfits I liked. Everything seemed to be 0-3 months. I wound up just going with that, I figure at least they'll get some wear out of it! I do have a few NB outfits, just none that I'm using for the coming home outfit.

Re: coming home outfit
0-3 for me. Both my kids were 10+ lbs and 22+ in ...so NB didn't work for us and 0-3 only lasted 2 weeks (They were the size of a 3 month old at birth )

Ours in 6 months because Disney doesn't make parks merch any smaller, and someone (me) HAS to have him wearing a Disneyland outfit We're only planning on keeping him in it for a short time anyway.

Re: coming home outfit
bring a NB and a 0-3
BTDT advice, bring TWO outfits anyway! DS peed through his first one before we even got him into the carseat the day we left the hospital! luckily, I brought an extra
eta - DS was born 8.7lbs and 21 inches and fit perfectly in NB (but only for 2 weeks or so)

Re: coming home outfit
dont go crazy on buying newborn stufff, many many babies are born too big for them. And I don't think many of them are considered "gaint babies" as someone said earlier

Re: coming home outfit
Dd#2 was born at 8lbs 5 oz and went home at 8lbs 7oz 21" and wore newborn for about 2 weeks. 0-3 was really big on her and she was a pretty big baby. I would bring both sizes with you to the hospital but don't go crazy buying a bunch of newborn stuff. You really never know how things are going to fit them. Dd#1 was born at 6lbs 4oz and wore Preemie sizes for about a month and newborn for about 2 months after that. She was wearing 9-12 months at her first birthday and dd#2 was wearing 24months-2t at her first birthday. Babies are all different.

Re: coming home outfit
My DD was 8 lbs 9oz at birth and was swimming in 0-3 for the 1st 2 weeks of her life. She also was a rapid gainer-- when she was 2 weeks old, she had already gained a pound!
