any tree people out there with opinions on dogwoods vs. flowering pear trees?

I planted a Bradford flowering pear tree in my front yard almost 4 years ago, I'm going to be planting a tree in our backyard soon and was researching again....I didn't know they call the flowering pear the heartbreaker tree b/c of it's tendency to be weak and split/destroy itself after 10-15 years.....awesome. Now it's making me hesitate to plant the same in the backyard! I will be so sad if I lose the tree in the front yard since I planted it a month before our wedding.

any info opinions on either tree? if you have one and have pictures, please share

I am no tree expert... Bug i love dogwoods! They are my favorite tree!
