Stony Brook Hospital questions
I didn't get a chance to take the tour so was wondering about a few things, if anybody has been there or taken the tour:
do they have the birthing balls you sit on or should I bring mine from home? showers in L&D room? tv in L&D room? How are they with letting you walk around etc. during labor?
Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Re: Stony Brook Hospital questions
When I gave birth there in 2007 they had a birthing ball (and chair to put it in if you like), a birthing bar, a shower in the room and a TV. As far as walking around, I think every case different. I couldn't really walk around because they were monitoring me. I walked to the bathroom but not around the hospital.

OK cool, I kind of just assumed they would have these things but I figured I should make sure. Thank you!

The Stony Brook Midwives are affiliated with them and they encourage the use of most of that kind of stuff. I know I used them during my labor.

Re: Stony Brook Hospital questions
I was allowed to walk around, I requested not to be hooked up to the monitors, the did make me come back into the room and check my stats every so often, yes there is a shower in there, labor was too crazy for me to even think about going in there and sit under the shower while I labored (as I had thought I would).
