Is it completely safe to go to the dentist?? i was prob up for my 6 month cleaning at the end of last year but i chose to skip my check up because i wasnt sure if it was safe or if they needed to take x-rays or anything...
well today while eating breakfast i lost a filling!!! and while it doesnt hurt, i have a hole in my tooth and dont wanna crack the tooth so im going to have to get it fixed!!

Re: Dentist
Yup you can go. I know someone who had a root canal while preggo. My OB made me go to the dentist for a cleaning.

Re: Dentist
Yes, they actually reccomend it (I'm a big chicken though )
I was told that for x-rays they have to double shield you (which is what they did for me when my tooth cracked in December)..And as far as novacaine, there is a type that pregnant women can have (epinephrine free I believe )...Your dentist may want a note from your OB..I would check ahead of time

Re: Dentist
Its important to go to the dentist when preggo.
I went for my regular ck up. Just be sure to tell them you're preggo and they'll take the proper precautions

Re: Dentist
Perfectly fine. It's actually recommended to get more frequent cleanings during pregnancy because your teeth are prone to more problems. I had a cleaning almost 3 months ago and am going back in a couple of weeks .
They just won't do x-rays on you.

I was also told this by my OB. My dentist's office just needed an letter from my OB stating it was okay, and my OB's office was happy to do it for me.

Re: Dentist
I work in a dental office and its highly recommended that you keep up with your oral Hygeine while pregnant. Rather then 1x6mo, they usually try to get you in every 4mos. You are also able to take xrays, the radiation is so minimal! And you only need xrays 1xyear
