I Don't Know Anything About Ebay. Can you lovely ladies please help me understand something?
Sadly, because my now ex-h basically left me in a huge financial hole, I am forced to sell some of my beloved bags. A friend of mine is selling one of my rare premier designer bags. When I first saw it up on his ebay someone bid on it immediately and there was a "buy it now" price below this person's bid.
The "buy it now" was there for a few days and then my friend tells me there are 25 people "watching" this bag but the "buy it now" is gone. The only thing showing now is the 1 bidder's amount. I asked my friend why the "buy it now" is gone and he said he didn't know, he never encountered this before.
Does anyone know why that happened?

The buy it now option is only available until someone places a bid. Once a bid is in place it becomes an auction.

Oh, okay! Thank you!! I wonder why he didn't know this? Unless, maybe people bought things from him at buy now price in the past?

This is not true at all. I've bidded on things to try and get a lower price and then once the price got up there, just sucked it up and bought it at the Buy It Now price. Unless they've changed their policies in the past year.

Really? I double checked the ebay help screen before I posted and again just now.
When you see the Buy It Now option on an item page, it means you can buy the item immediately. If you're happy with the Buy It Now price, it's a good idea to act quickly. Once the item receives a bid, the option goes away and the item will be sold to the winning bidder.
