When you first felt the baby

Did you feel it every day or just sporadically for a while. I swear I felt the baby move once on Sunday and once on Monday, but nothing yesterday or so far today. It wasn't flutters - more like a muscle spasm type feeling. It literally felt like the baby rolled against the inside of my tummy, right int he spot where it usually is. Is it normal to feel it every so often in the beginning? I'm 17 weeks.

I did not feel it consistently until maybe 23-24w, but I started feeling it sporadically much, much earlier than that!

Re: When you first felt the baby

I started feeling it sporadically at 19 weeks. It didn't get more consistent to around 22 weeks. What you are describing definitely sounds like the baby. It is very similar to a muscle spasm.

just shy of 24 weeks and I haven't felt consistency -- just little taps here and there.

Re: When you first felt the baby

I felt her sporadically starting at 20weeks and its just getting more consistent and reliable to the point where I am not worrying as much about it at 27weeks.

I think I felt it first at 16 weeks but then not again for a while after that....which made me wonder if it was really the baby moving I thought I felt at 16w....

Re: When you first felt the baby

I was asking the same questions as you not too long ago. I felt her around 16 week for the first time and then I didn't feel much again until a week later. After that it was very sporadic. I'd have 2-3 days of feeling bubbles and then 2-3 days of nothing. It was driving me crazy.

Now at almost 22 weeks, I have been feeling her a little more consistently at certain times during the day.

Everyone that I've asked and everywhere I've read said that consistent movement occurs more around 24 weeks so don't worry. Chat Icon

Re: When you first felt the baby

at first it was just like gas bubbles/ or a popping feeling randomly thru out the day...now its def more movement and kicking...its still not all day long, but now you can def not blame it on gas or anything but the baby!! i am 22 weeks

i def feel it everyday, but somedays more than others, and not all day long.

Re: When you first felt the baby

I'm 18w and yet to feel any consistancy & I'm on #2.

Of course, I go into worry mode all the time because of this.

I feel taps here & there, but nothing major.

Re: When you first felt the baby

Thanks everyone! I wasn't sure if it should be sporadic at first. It made me second guess myself, but I am pretty sure it was the baby. So exciting!!!
