When and How Re: registering
1. When did you start registering? i know it can be a lengthy process and not all of it gets done in one shot so how far along were you when you started?
2. How did you know what to look for in regards to car seats, strollers etc. did you use Baby Bargains as a reference for brands and stuff? im not sure where to start my research on items such as those.
i am finally mentally ready i think to start researching this stuff. i'll be 20w on thursday

Re: When and How Re: registering
we registered at like17 weeks, i went in knowing pretty much all the big stuff i wanted, then i went back with my sister-in-law who has 2 young kids to help me add all the stuff that i forgot but will need!
eta...all stuff like car seats and stuff i got from other people recommending them
its very overwhelming!!! even being somewhat prepared i was still like OMG! i would try and go with someone who has kids or recently had a kid, if DH wants to be there and be part of it, go with him first and then go with someone who knows what they are doing! LOL

Re: When and How Re: registering
We started registering at like the 22 week mark and will hopefully finish up this weekend at the 27 week mark
I read baby bargains and did a lot of research on line and wrote down suggestions that people made on here and just kept my list growing.
This weekend we are actually going to go through Buy Buy Baby with a personal shopper person to really add the bulk of things to our registry (right now there are just big items that i really researched on there).
They say that going on a week night is easiest but at the end of the work day the idea of walking through a big store to register just didn't seem like a good idea to me.
I did find it overwhelming at first but I like that i am taking my time to do it and just adding things piece by piece

Re: When and How Re: registering
We registered around 19 wks or so.
I just did my own research online and when we were in store, we looked at the big things to see how we liked it. (Eg. car seat, stroller, PNP, etc.)
When you do it in store, it's VERY overwhelming. We were in the store the first time for almost 3 hours and only scanned about 13 or 14 things. We came back another day, but we did most of them online.
If you do stuff online, make sure that things can be bought in store and online, not just online.

Re: When and How Re: registering
I started registering online around 20 weeks. I would pick one big item at a time and do all the research I could until I felt confident with my decision and then started on the next. I researched everything online and used Baby Bargains for reference. Doing it this way was much less overwhelming for me than walking into a store blindly not knowing anything about any of the products in front of me. By the time I went to the store to finalize my registry, I already had all the big items done and really just wanted to see them in person and register for all the little things.

Re: When and How Re: registering
We registered around 20ish weeks..I used Baby Bargains as a springboard and then researched online and asked other moms I knew..at first, we registered for big items-carseat, highchair, pack and play, etc. and then added online...then went back and did another big run...then added online..taking it bit by bit made it a lot less overwhelming...

Re: When and How Re: registering
BRU provides you with a complete checklist of what you need...I registered for what I wanted and looked over the checklist at home and updated my registry online!
I started registering at 20 weeks, when we found out the sex

Re: When and How Re: registering
We just started registering at 16 weeks. We're not finding out the baby's sex so no point in delaying it. I have been reading Baby Bargains and have a ton of threads saved from here.
We went to BRU and walked through the store, picking out the bigger things I knew we needed and that had good reviews. I even put stuff on there I wasn't sure about so I could think about it / do more research and then edit the registry later. Now I'm going through the old threads I saved and figuring out what I'm missing and if anything needs to be changed. We'll prob do another run through at BRU and then I'll also register at BBB. My plan is to finalize the registries witht he smaller things online. It's overwhelming at first, but taking small steps helps.
