UPDATED with my results and another question... 35 and up - would you please share your ratio after NT test?
I had the sono on Tuesday night. Everything looked perfect. I can call on Tuesday for blood results to get ratio. I am 36. I'm trying to figure out what to expect.
Thanks!
UPDATE: I just called my doctor's office even though the doctor said to call Tuesday.... They just got the results in... I spoke to the nurse. She said my results were excellent and that my ratio for DS is 1:1,700 and 1:10,000 for Trisomy 18. She said the numbers are very reassuring and looked excellent.
I am initially very relieved, but my ratio of 1:1,700 seems a lot lower than those that you all shared with me.
Do you think (from your experience/knowledge) that the 1:1,700 is in fact reassuring, or do you think it low enough to worry?
Thanks! I am feeling totally paranoid and crazed with doubt...

I'm 34. Going to be 35 when the baby is born. I had good #'s. I think it was 1in 10,000 for downs and similiar with all the other #'s

I am 38. At my 12 week appt, my sono came back looking great, but my ratio came back as 1/74 or Down's. Went to see a genetic counseler...to talk about the results and get info about an amnio. At my 16 week appt, they took more bloodwork, the results came back as 1/2513. Don't know what the difference was...but it was not a fun couple of weeks there.
Good Luck!

I'm glad your numbers came back so great after the 16 week bloodwork. I'm sorry you had to go through those scary weeks though.
So you never got the amnio, based on the blood results of 16 week test?

No as per the genetic counselor (that called after receiving my results) they said as per my results I didn't need to do it unless we wanted to. We didn't want to...

Re: 35 and up - would you please share your ratio after NT test?
I was very lucky with both of my pregnancies- had good numbers and opted to not do an amnio either time. I am terrified of needles and also scared about the (very small) chance of miscarriage with an amnio.
Pregnancy #1 age 35 1 in 5500
Pregnancy #2 age 37 1 in 3500
I did get the AFP blood test at 16 weeks or so and I don't remember those numbers- but they were even better than the nuchal!
Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy. I was nervous with both of mine, as I was born with a birth defect (missing my right ear). While my problem is not genetic at all, I was still anxious anyway.

Re: 35 and up - would you please share your ratio after NT test?
With my first pregnancy my numbers were low because they detected that DD had clubbed feet, which they say is a soft marker for other abnormalities. I think I was 1 in 1,200. We didn't do an amnio and my doctor didn't recommend or negate it. He asked if the results would change anything for us and I said no so we all thought it best not to do an amnio.
ETA: And I should add that when she was born, she only had clubbed feet....no other problems.

I think my #'s were 1 in 8000 or something like that.
Don't let your age worry you at all, my results came back as if I were a 20 year old

Re: UPDATED with my results and another question... 35 and up - would you please share your ratio after NT test?
I am only 30 but I wanted to add my experience to perhaps make you feel a little better about your numbers. I was told my twins had a 1/5 chance of having trisomy 18....yep thats 1/5! Needless to say I was certain they had it. I declined the amnio even though all docs were pushing for it. So up until the boys were born I thought the worst. This past August they were both born COMPLETELY healthy! No abnormalities as they had expected. So, please know that these numbers are just estimates and not at all accurate. I know its hard but dont worry as I am sure it will all turn out fine!
