Help for a OPI Gel manicure newbie ?

What should the process be for the OPI gel manicure ?

I went about a month ago to a salon in merrick. They used a thin paint brush applied some kinda gel in a little container, followed by uv light, then color, repeat.
lasted for 2 weeks.

I went recently by me in babylon asked for same thing, NO thin paint brush gel thingy, just 3 tiny bottles of nail polish that say Shellac, uv light..

1st time lasted only 1 week.
I had it redone on Friday & it is already peeling in certain spots.

Am I getting screwed ?
I'm confused.

TIA!

When I did this, they did it the way the first place did it. The nail polish is actually in a type of container that looks like lip gloss and they painted it on with the brush.

That being said, I will warn you about my experience. I use to get wraps, but was looking for something that would be a little less expensive and most importantly a little easier on my nails.

While I did not like how light the OPI Gel looked (you could see my nails) it did last a long time with no chips. The first time I went in the lady took a razor blade and started chipping it off. About one finger in I told her I thought you had to soak it off. She was like, no this is how you do it? Stupidly I sat there and let her do it and of course my nails had damage to them. Then she re-applied the Gel Manicure again (which by the way takes a long time to do). Anyway, the second time I went back - same place - the lady soaks them and then they are having issues with it coming off so she starts with the razor too. I was done with it all. I just had them do a regular manicure.

For the price of it, I would get wraps if you don't mind the damage part. The cost is the same, time is less and fill ins are quick and easy to do.
