Oh Man...I am officially "that" mom...
I went back to Bella's school after I dropped her off this AM because I wanted to send a heavier sweater in as it was colder than I thought. When I was walking in the school I saw the *NOTICE* for a "Special" Board Meeting....AND IT WAS YESTERDAY. Well, that meeting wasn't on the schedule and there has been some sneakiness going on with the Kindergarten class size as some of you may remember.
So I called the President of the Board. Yup, I looked her up and dialed her directly. She was a little flummoxed at my call and danced around what the subject of the meeting was...but I was clear that I found it disconcerting that this meeting was scheduled on the "sly". She assured me that it wasn't in relation to Kindergarten.
I will be in attendance next week and I am armed, the minutes will be laid out...but man, this is going to be more involved than I thought.
If there is ONE thing I will not tolerate...it's underhanded behavior. This newbie is going to make some waves, I think. I use my maiden name, to protect Bella for a bit  .

In this day and age...we all need to be THAT Mom. I have gone to town on the school district more than once and SD has only been in this district for a little over a year. The only way you can make sure your DC is getting everything they need and deserve is to let the school know that you are involved...they are much less likely to overlook your child if they know you'll come marching down there and give them grief if they do :)

Just out of curiousity...did you check if it's related to Special Ed or they really did try to schedule a Board Meeting?

Oh, it was a meeting. Apparently in regards to hiring someone "impartial" for a hearing that she couldn't disclose to me at this juncture.....Minutes will be released next week.

You should be able to get a copy of board agenda and minutes. They are public record.
But when board meetings are called quickly - it is usually about hiring someone.
