Can someone please give me a list
of what does and does NOT go in the dish washer?
This is the first time I've had a dishwasher in my adult life

I just look on the bottom of bowls and stuff.....it will say.
Also if it is plastic only put it on the top shelf only.

No sharp knives (carving knives, paring knives, etc) - it ruins the handles.
No wood, ie: wood cutting boards, wood salad bowls.
Some pots and pans (as noted by manufacturer). The All-Clad with the black finish should not go in the dishwasher.
I don't put in my good crystal but that's a personal decision, I don't think it's forbidden. I just don't like subjecting it to the harsher detergents.

Def. NO wood. If it has a tiny chip in it, it soaks up the water and bacteria and will be ruined.
No china with gold or silver trim.
Some things say top rack only, and they mean it.
Enjoy!!!!
eta: you can do your crystal in there with no soap just to get that steam sterilization.
oh, and if you make fish, run that washer asap because I've forgotten and it isn't pretty going back the next day.

LOL, my mom would have a very long list for you, but honestly, I put just about everything in the dishwasher. If it is plastic, I put it on the top rack. That is really the only rule I go by.
Enjoy not having to wash dishes anymore! When I got mine, it was as if I won the lottery!

Thanks everyone! I was away so I haven't read the responses until now.
So stainless steel pans can go in? There is a pots a pans setting but I don't have enough to warrent a full cycle. Do you think I mix pots and pans and plates in one cycle? Would I use the normal wash, or the pots and pans wash in that case?
