Coverting from oil to gas
Hi, we have a ranch house/with basement with Oil heat but with gas cooking today we had an estimate for the conversion. We were quoted 11,000 does anyone know if that is high? It seemed high to us.

we paid about $6000 for ours and that might have included him doing a few extra things for us as well that we needed done

I think that is way too high! I have a Colonial with no gas in the house and I paid $5500 with a new water heater also.
Let me know if you want my Plumbers #, I highly recommend him.

If your system is in the basement that's about right. Get another quote to make sure.
We paid 5K but we were a VERY easy job. Ground level furnace. Easy to reach, remove and replace. No additional water heater.

We paid $6K five years ago. That covered a new burner, hot water tank and a gas hook-up outside for our bbq.

I am not sure what we paid for just that part - but if you want another recomendation let me know - we did a lot more work - i have someone who only goes on word of mouth
also - think about other connections you want - we have a connection for our bbq
also contact your gas company and see if there are any savings on boilers on switching to gas - i know national grid sent us some
