Re-upholstery...roundabout pricing?
I have a huge sectional that is VERY comfy...but outdated and dingy. Its in the basement and I don't want to spend alot of $$ on basement furniture since thats where people eat, drink and hang out. I was thinking maybe I could re-upholster it instead of buying a new one. how much do you think a sectional would be? anyone whos done it before have recs?

can you put a slipcover on the couch?

i called CLS or CSL- whatever the place is in bohemia & it was $$- approx 2500 for a custom slipcover for my couch & sofa. that was cheaper the re-upholstery!

I would just slipcover it if you can. A new one could cost you less then re-upholstery.

it will cost alot of $$$ even using the cheapest fabirc.
can you sew?
its actually very easy to do yourself. I could walk you through a few simple steps if you know how to sew.

wow thats nuts...guess i'm either going the DIY route and if that doesn't come out well...I'll just have to buy new. the new ones i priced were nowehere near the costs for re-upholstering stated here.

Def do a slip cover or new couch. I used CLS and I was happy with them, but they were expensive. Two chairs. $1500. They were of course special to me because they were my grandparents and from the 60's. Otherwise I would never have done it.
