this is a crime
to bring a gas line 530 ft (actually, 430..the first 100 is "free") costs nearly $30,000!!!!
it is a crime that in order to be green, you have to pay that much. that just really disgusted me.

I know - I priced it out too! And on top of the almost $40,000 they want to charge to bring in the line, I still have to pay for equipment AND then they will send me a bill every month - no thanks.

ha ha I called national grid after they solicited me through the mail to see what would needed to be done and they got back to me and said $58,000 but I am welcome to split the cost with my neighbors.

Wee have a line that ispretty close for us to tap off of.It would cost us 8k. Definitely not something we are going to do today but perhaps in the future.

Yep, to bring the line to our house was $18K..then add the line to the house, hook up equipment..etc...over $30K.
Yeah,....uh...no.

Yes, solar is a lot up-front, but at least you're making your own power, so there is an ROI. With the gas lines, you have to pay them $$$$, just so you can pay them every month for the gas..... 
Also, with solar, you can start low, and add more later, although most of the rebates are for 1st time installation, I think.

True..I can definitely see the difference.
And as Mici C mentioned, gas cost about the same as oil. So it's an expensive switch for mainly a "preference".
I'm just thankful we already had it.
