tin stars/celestial suns on outside of homes..

silly question...I love the look of this, but if you have vinyl siding, how does one hang the item?

I see them on sale online, but it never states how they are hung. I'd hate to hammer a nail in my siding.

We have one, we just hung it with a nail :)

You could always use a 3M hook. We hung an outdoor clock with one and it's been up just fine.

I've never used the 3M hooks on siding but we do have three of them in the middle of our windowframes and we use them to hang decorations around Christmas. Someone told me how good they were last year, and they were right. Pretty strong.

I've seen things that look like wreath hangers at Hicks that are meant to hang things on siding

May be a stupid question but I always wanted to know... Why exactly do people put these on their houses? Whats the meaning behind it?

Vinyl siding has weep holes every so often on the bottom of each panel. You could put a wire hanger type thing through the weep hole. You wouldn't affect the integrity of the siding that way. If it's not in the spot you wanted, you could make a new "weep hole" in the spot you wanted that matched the other ones. It's on the underside of the siding layer, so water can't get in, and you aren't nailing through it, since siding has to hang loosely, so it can expand and contract with temps.
