Tub Reglazing....
has anyone had their tub reglazed? prices? recommendations? were in queens...

my inlaws just did it themselves. they sell kits at Home Depot. They said it came out really nice.

Ed and I wanted to reglaze our tub, just putting off spending the $400 or so to have someone do it bc it was absolutely necessary!

My MIL said it was easy and it looks just the same as when you spend the $400 to reglaze. You do have to use a chemical to clean the tub first and I believe some sanding she might have said and then you spray the new glaze on and let dry. Now of course this was my MIL short version, not sure how long it really took, but she said it was easy to do. HTH!

We bought the stuff too, just haven't had the time. You need to not use your tub for 72 hours though. It seems like it would be fairly easy. I mean I redid our countertops so this shouldn't be bad!

its like the difference between dying your hair from the box and going to the salon... thats how i see it anyway....

My ILs got bathfitters and it does look really nice. It is pricey though and takes a few days as well. They also only had tile in the bath/shower area and not around the entire bathroom so it was an easier fix for them. They never replaced the toilet or sink when they did the bathfitters. They're not funky colors, just old so updating the bathroom completely would have looked really nice.

Yes we ARE capable women!!! ok it was a good analogy....I'll give you that one.
Why not trying the DIY first. Me & my DH saved a lot of money that way and even a lot of time trying to hire a contractor. GL! If you do the DIY Glaze, make sure you let all of us know how it turns out. I'm sure there are lots of people on this board that would love to hear the details once you are done.

Do it yourself if you can. We spent $300 to have it done a year and a half ago. So far, I've had them back 3 times to fix peeling. It is under warranty for 5 years, but after that I don't know what we will do. Hopefully, by that time, we'll have the money to redo the whole room.

I agree no bathfitters! We had a guy who works for another company now but who used to install bathfitters and he said he would never recommend doing it and would never put it in his own home.

Not sure, it was a friend of my dads so I will have to ask his reasoning. I seem to remember something about bacteria growing between the fitter and old tub
