My boss did our closing - we bought him a very expensive big bottle of tequila!
Oh and I might add - I did most of the work!

She wanted $1000 originally til I told her I'd have someone else do it for 850 if she wouldn't match it.

$1,500
To be fair though, he was meticulous and answered every question and phone call the same day. His office staff were also fantastic to deal with.
He even called a few months later to follow up, to make sure we had no other problems that he needed to know about or were concerned about, and also reminded us to file for our STAR exemption before the deadline.

For the sale and purchase it was $750 each. I know if he didn't have both it would have been more for just the purchase.

For my money, that's an attorney worth every penny. In 10 years as a Realtor, I've never seen one charge that much, but often (not always) you get what you pay for. I'd want him on my side!

$1,000 when we bought 3 years ago. It was a family friend who normally charges more and cut us a deal. She did quite a bit of work for us, though, so it was more than worth it.
$800 is pretty inexpensive on Long Island or NYC now. I would think most lawyers today are charging $1,000 - $1,5000, but everyone has different fee structures.
I would pay a little more than $1,000 for a good lawyer, but definitely not more than $1400 unless you have a particularly complex closing.
