Digital Camera
Sorry if this is a repeat post, but my b-day is coming up soon and I want to use my money to get a new camera. The ones I have now take great pics, but have such a slow load time.
Does anyone have a camera that really captures quick moments?
TIA

I have a great digital camera, but it was a lot of $$$ its the Nikon D50. It takes pics very quickly, I love it! My In-laws got it for us as a gift. Its not one of those little cameras, its like a professional one.

I have the same one and love it. It's an SLR so it's alot faster boot time and recycle time. You can also look into the Canon Digital Rebel - more mps but also more $$$.

Re: Digital Camera
I have the Nikon D70 with an old 300mm lens. The body for the D70 now sells for $ 649.95, the lens was about $300. I'm going to get a new lens probably around Christmas. Birthday present is a larger memory card
I would go for a digital SLR. Any Nikon or Canon is fine. They aren't lightweight but well worth it IMHO.
An SLR (single lens reflex) takes instantaneous shots.(There is no lag time from when you press the button to the time the shutter snaps.) and it doesn't need to warm up.
There's a few posts about good sites on camera reviews. I still like DP Review. To buy a camera, I would look at B&H Photo and then make everyone match each other's prices. B&H generally has the better prices.
HTH.

Re: Digital Camera
thanks for the info!!! I will give DH the information and we can start shopping around.
The cameras I have now we would totally miss first smiles and steps and such. Since I am moving away from my fam I am going to be a picture nut keeping them updated.
thanks again!

Same her but we have the D70. I know we paid close to $1000 when we bought ours. I think they have dropped in price now though. We are happy with it and I will be even happier when I read the book and know how to use all the features. Honestly this is a great baby picture taking camera. There is no delay in taking the next photo.

Re: Digital Camera
We have a Canon Digital SLR, its a D something or other...its the Eos one. Anyway, its great. It takes fantastic pictures with only basic knowledge of photography.
ETA - the thing that makes a Digital SLR better than a digital point and shoot is the shutter speed. You can shoot 20-30 frames instantly and just use the best ones. You can get a memory card that allows you to take like 250 pictures so you can shoot shoot shoot! I find that you don't miss that first smile because of waitin for the camera to focus and shoot... Also, if you don't want to use the flash, with a point and shoot your pictures are often blurry, with the SLR, they are clear as day!

Re: Digital Camera
I have a Cannon Powershot SD400. It is so fast (turning on and in between pictures). I love it. It's also great because it's so small so I can bring it all over and always be ready to capture a picture. We also have a digital SLR. It's a Canon Rebel EOS. It takes amazing pictures, but it's a little bulky to carry around and also much more $$$.
