Re: mortgage....
you should keep several months of ALL bank statements, paystubs, check your credit so if there is anything false you can get it cleared up

Re: mortgage....
Make sure you have direct deposit - and don't do any transferring of money back and forth...
Save all your paystubs and bank statements...
My bank recently asked for a copy of every deposit we made since feb - including every check we got as gift for our wedding.
DH had a deduction for employee stock purchase on his paycheck, he had just enrolled so it wasn't on prior stubs, they wanted a letter explaining the deduction and why. They weren't satisfied with our reply.
Our underwriter is being very unreasonable...

Re: mortgage....
For us, we needed our last three returns, our last two pay stubs, and our bank account statements for the last few months (I do not remember how many...)
We transfer money every two weeks (after payday) from our separate accounts to our joint accounts, but our bank never questioned it.

Re: mortgage....
for the initial mortgage application we needed 2-3 months worth of bank statements and paystubs and our licenses.
we just got a letter in the mail today asking for our original contract (which they should have), bank statements documenting a large sum of money i deposited (a bonus check), the canceled down payment check we gave the lawyer (which i have paperless statements so i don't know how i'll get the original check), verification of the "gift" check we are getting from my mom - plus the bank statements that show she took it out and deposited it in our account, written verification of our employment and bank statements signed by the bank, stamped (which hopefully i can get b/c i'm still at work when banks close!!) and the appraisal (which hasn't even benn done yet!).
